Design Philosophy
At Estelon, the foundation of every loudspeaker is a balance between acoustic engineering and the real-world conditions of listening spaces. Each room introduces its own set of reflections and influences, which is why we design our loudspeakers to work in synergy with their environment. The goal is always to create a lifelike, emotionally engaging listening experience that brings the soundstage to life, exactly as the artist intended.
For low frequencies, room dimensions often mean the sound behaves like air pressure, not directional waves. Because of this, our woofers are positioned close to the floor. This placement helps couple the sound with the surface, improving efficiency, stability, and the distribution of standing waves. It also allows for more flexible placement in a room without compromising bass accuracy.
Frequencies above 100 Hz behave differently. The shorter wavelengths interact with walls, ceilings, and furniture, creating reflections that affect clarity. To minimise this, we place the midrange and tweeter higher on the cabinet in a tightly grouped vertical alignment. This placement helps reduce reflections, ensures stable imaging, and delivers a coherent and balanced sound across a wide frequency range.
Cabinet Technology
The Estelon Forza features a cabinet unlike any traditional box design. There are no parallel walls, and every surface, inside and out, is curved or contoured for acoustic benefit.
After years of research and testing, we developed our own proprietary marble-based composite material, along with a specialised moulding process, to achieve this complex and highly rigid structure.
The cabinet is extremely dense and stable, which minimises resonance and provides an ideal foundation for the drivers. Each driver is placed within its own carefully engineered enclosure, optimised for its specific function. The result is a structure that supports the drivers without adding its own character to the sound.
Inside, we use advanced dampening techniques with both natural and synthetic materials, chosen and positioned through rigorous testing. These materials absorb unwanted energy, supporting a clean and natural sound across the full musical spectrum.
Premium Driver System
- Each Forza loudspeaker uses a precise combination of five drivers: two woofers, one mid-woofer, one midrange, and one tweeter. All are custom-designed in collaboration with Accuton, a world-renowned German driver manufacturer.
- The two 250 mm aluminium sandwich woofers deliver powerful and accurate low-end performance, aided by their long linear excursion and high-stiffness membranes. The 190 mm mid-woofer, also using a stiff aluminium sandwich membrane, extends into the midrange with clarity and speed.
- The 168 mm ceramic membrane midrange driver combines lightness and rigidity, producing natural and transparent sound across vocals, strings, and other instruments. At the highest frequencies, a 25 mm diamond membrane tweeter delivers exceptional resolution and microdetail, with an extended range up to 60 kHz.
- All drivers are placed in dedicated chambers, with careful attention to geometry and bracing. The woofer chamber, with no parallel walls and internal curvature, helps eliminate standing waves and resonances. The mid-woofer and tweeter also have isolated chambers, shaped to control reflections and preserve clarity.
Symmetric Driver Loading
Forza features a symmetrical driver layout, where the woofers are identically loaded both inside and outside the cabinet.
This symmetry allows both woofers to move together without interference, resulting in cleaner, more accurate bass reproduction. We refer to this as Symmetric Driver Loading (SDL) technology.
Crossover Design
The Forza’s crossover network is a key part of its performance.
It uses second-order filters for the mid-woofer, midrange, and tweeter, and a third-order filter for the woofers. Crossover points are set at 75 Hz, 150 Hz, and 2 kHz.
Each crossover is designed to optimise time alignment, frequency integration, and tonal accuracy. Components are carefully selected, including capacitors from Mundorf and Jantzen, air-core copper foil inductors from Goertz, and steel-core inductors from Mundorf. All components are mounted on a custom plate, using a star-wired configuration and flat foil direct coupling to preserve signal integrity. Every connection is hand-soldered, and cable lengths are kept minimal for the cleanest signal path.
